Bryan Barbier Remix from "TANGENT"
We're always on the lookout for solid underground videos and edits from around the world that represent under-appreciated skaters and scenes. And we have a soft spot in our hearts for independent videomakers who help bring attention to their local scenes. So we were stoked to be given the chance to host a brand new full part from an indie videomaker from Canada, Jordan Palmer Wiens. Jordan has been working hard on a new full length project called "TANGENT" that just went live for the first time today. And we are hosting a remixed version of one of the rad parts from the project.
The Merriam Webster definition for "TANGENT” is "a completely different line of thought or action”. Jordan told us "I wanted this video to have randomness but still have flow. Each skateboarder is from different disciplines and styles, and the music is as bi-polar as the filmer who created it. I have always been the contributing filmer to larger projects, with smaller projects of my own in the past (like Dweeb) but this is my first undertaking of a big project. Being a sporadic space-case sometimes, it was hard to organize all of my ideas into something cohesive. The project was able to bring us to places like San Francisco and NYC, two bucket list locations of a long list that I hope to check off more from once this covid-induced chaos subsides. My passion for perfection kept me going throughout the project."

This brings us to the focus of this post, Bryan Barbier. Bryan has a featured part in Tangent and we were blessed with a remixed version of his new part that you can now watch on our Youtube channel. Peep the video below. We asked Jordan to tell us a little bit about Bryan and this is what he said "What can’t I say about this sweet hearted gentleman. If he isn’t gripping boards and sizing up shoes at the shop, he’s out riding for Alien Workshop, DC Shoes and Birling the Ottawa skate shop, but he’s also known to be cracked at Super Mario (twitch.tv/fryinb). He’s been the most collaborative skater I’ve worked with thus far, and his patience is unmatched. His kind demeanour and silly sense of humour are infectious. Also shout outs to his roommate Jamie Perkins making an appearance in the re-mix!"
So please check out Bryan's remix part below....and once you're done you can peep the full video here. Enjoy!
Some last words from Jordan Palmer Weins.....
"I can’t thank enough the dedication, hard work and support of everyone involved. Who knows if this will be my last standard VX1000 video (tapeless options are very intriguing), but I definitely want to experiment with different mediums in the future. Thank you Josh & Theories! Bless you, and keep your stick on the ice folks!"
